Upset over scolding by parents, 2 schoolgirls board train to UP

Bhopal: After their parents scolded them for not studying, two teenage girls decided to leave home and boarded a train to UP. They were recovered from Lucknow after a case of kidnapping was filed, as is the procedure in the law for minors. When the girls did not return home, their families started searching for them. On not finding them anywhere, a complaint was lodged at the Habibganj police station of the city. Since the duo were minors, the police registered a case of kidnapping and began the investigation. Luckily, the girls had a mobile and the police also got a lead from the CCTV cameras and other technical surveillance.
The duo were traced in Uttar Pradesh and were being brought back home, the police said on Sunday. The exact reason for leaving home was unclear to police, but what appeared as probable cause was the duo were scolded by parents for not studying. Police said both the teenage girls reside in the same colony and study in the same school and the same class. Their parents feared that they would not do well in studies, and scolded them over it after which they decided to leave their homes, the police said. The police stated on Feb 20, two people approached at Habibganj police station and reported that their 15-year-old daughters, who are friends and study in the same school, had left home saying they were going to school but did not return even after school hours.Cops formed a team to search for the missing girls. CCTV cameras around their homes and the school were checked. Photos and descriptions of the missing girls were circulated on official police groups. Then, information was received that the girls were seen near the railway station. After reviewing railway station CCTV footage, it was found that the girls had boarded a train.The police team, along with the families, reached Lucknow and searched for the girls and recovered them. During questioning, the girls said they had gone to Lucknow after being upset with their families. The girls were handed over to their parents, police added.The two girls were recovered in less than a day but there are about 70 minor girls of Bhopal who have been missing for the past six years and the investigation agencies have no trace of them so far.
