Union minister Prahlad Singh Patel’s son Prabal, accused in an attempt-to-murder case, was remanded in judicial custody on Friday after his police remand ended. But police are yet to track down Prabal’s cousin, Monu Patel — the son of former minister Jalam Singh, Prahlad’s brother.

But police are yet to track down Prabal’s cousin, Monu Patel — the son of former minister Jalam Singh, Prahlad’s brother.Monu, a history-sheeter, and Prabal are among 12 persons accused of attempted murder after a clash in Gotegaon town injured five people, one of them a policeman. Police are collecting CCTV footage of the crime scene to crosscheck claims of Monu’s kin that he wasn’t there when the clash occurred. “Our investigation covers all aspects. We have sent out teams to arrest the other accused and are verifying claims that Monu was not involved in the incident,” Narsinghpur SP Gurukaran Singh told TOIAccording to the complaint, Prabal and his friends beat Himanshu and Rahul near Bailhai in Gotegaon around 1am on June 18, took them to Monu’s office where they were beaten again. Then the duo was dragged out on the road. Homeguard jawan Ishwar Rai tried to intervene but he was attacked as well. When Ishwar’s son Shivam and another local Mayank intervened, they too were attacked. The accused started shooting and Himanshu was hit in the right hand, said police.A case of attempt to murder, kidnapping, rioting with deadly weapons, assault on public servant to deter him from duty, injuring a public servant, and under Arms Act was registered against Prabal, Monu, and 10 others.
