Cop wanted to end life after killing wife, sis-in-law

Bhopal: The Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), arrested for brutally stabbing his wife and sister-in-law to death in Aishbagh on Tuesday, was planning to end his life. However, he was arrested before he could act on his plan. Police said that ASI Yogesh Maravi (42), posted in Mandla district, was married to Vinita for 17 years. Vinita was living with her younger sister, Megha Uikey in Padmanabh Nagar due to marital discord. DCP (Zone-1) Priyanka Shukla said that on Tuesday around 10:30 am, Yogesh went to the flat where Vinita and Megha were staying. When the housemaid, Sewanti Bai, knocked on the door, Yogesh pushed her aside and entered the flat. Once inside, he stabbed both Vinita and Megha to death and fled the scene.DCP Shukla said that the a manhunt was launched. Mandla police were also alerted, and by evening, Yogesh was intercepted near Pindrai outpost under Nainpur police station in Mandla. He attempted to take his own life at the time of arrest, but police nabbed him. DCP Shukla said that a suicide note addressed to his father was recovered from the accused. In the note, Yogesh expressed his frustration over his marriage, alleging that since their wedding, Vinita stayed with him only for 8-10 days. He claimed that her sister and mother always created hurdles whenever he tried to bring her back. He said that he was being harassed and suspected his wife of having an affair.
