Bodies of man, daughter found from Tamas river in Rewa

Bhopal: The bodies of a 31-year-old ‘debt-ridden' man and his 5-year-old daughter—who ended their lives by jumping into a river in Rewa on Thursday were found on Saturday. The man had jumped in the river along with his two kids aged 4 and 5.Police said that bodies of the man and his daughter were found around 20 kilometres from the spot.The incident took place at Rajapur bridge under Sohagi police station of the district at around 9.30 pm on Thursday night. The deceased, identified as Sunil Manjhi along with his son Pushpraj, 4, and daughter Pushpa, 5, jumped into the Tamas river from Rajapur bridge."One body was found on Friday, and the remaining two bodies were found on Saturday. While the first body was found at a distance of around 20 kilometres, the remaining bodies were found within a radius of 5 kilometres," Sohagi police station in-charge, Pawan Shukla, told TOI."No suicide note has been found. Kin of the deceased are claiming that the deceased was under debt and was in stress due to it; we are yet to verify the claims. Statements of the kin would be recorded now," Shukla said.Sources said that the deceased had left his house with the two kids on his motorcycle at around 7.30 pm on Thursday evening. The motorcycle was found on the bridge, and the mobile phone of the deceased was also found. The keys of the motorcycle were also in it, added sources.
