Bhopal: A woman, who was allegedly confined for nearly 16 years, at her in-laws' home in Jehangirabad died at a hospital on Tuesday. She was rescued by the police about 10 days ago and admitted to the hospital.
According to police, Kishanlal Sahu, a resident of Narsinghpur, filed a complaint with the Mahila Thana, stating that his daughter, Ranu Sahu, was married to Yogendra Sahu of Jehangirabad in 2006. However, since 2008, her in-laws prevented them from meeting her. Following the complaint, the Mahila Thana team, along with the Jehangirabad police, rescued Ranu from her in-laws' house in Kolipura, where she was found in a severely ill state. She was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Ranu's condition was extremely fragile, as she became emaciated and was unable to move. Despite receiving medical care for around ten days, she passed away early on Tuesday morning. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
