Bhopal: Three laborers died and seven others were injured when the pickup truck carrying them to a construction site swerved into a divider and overturned on an under-construction bridge along National Highway 44 here on Monday morning.
The accident unfolded around 11:30 a.m. under Suatala police station limits near Barman outpost, authorities said. The vehicle, loaded with 10 workers from Surla Khapa village in Chhindwara district, lost control before slamming into the concrete barrier and flipping. Khusmaniya Bai Thakur, 50, and Bharat Thakur, 45, perished at the scene, while Ratan Thakur, 60, succumbed during treatment at a hospital, according to Ashish Bopche, the in-charge at Barman police outpost.

Three of the injured remained in critical condition at a nearby facility as investigators registered a case and began probing the cause. The workers were headed to a road project in the Narsinghpur highway area.
