BHOPAL: An ASI tore his uniform and threw his cap-belt during an argument inside a police station in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh. CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral.
Incident was reported from the Baidhan police station chamber on February 2, 2024, and the ASI has been identified as Vinod Mishra.
The video shows a heated discussion taking place in the chamber among officials, including the then police station in-charge and Municipal Corporation representatives. The dispute centered on a drain issue near ASI Mishra's residence.
According to ASI Mishra, BJP leader and councilor husband Arjun Das Gupta threatened to have him removed from the police force during the discussion. The threat, he claims, led to a surge in blood pressure and caused him to lose his temper.
BJP leader Arjun Das Gupta however denies the allegations, stating that ASI Mishra tore his uniform on his own accord. He insists that he did not threaten the ASI in any way. Mishra had previously complained about threats from Das Gupta.
Following the incident, ASI Mishra was admitted to a hospital. The SP has ordered a further investigation into the matter, including how the CCTV footage was leaked from inside the police station. The incident has raised concerns about the conduct of police officials and the potential influence of political figures on police operations.
