Teenager stabbed to death over petty issue in marriage

BHOPAL: An 18-year-old was stabbed to death and a murderous assault was made on his teenaged cousin in a dispute over a petty issue in a marriage procession on Wednesday night. A case was registered at Chhola Mandir police station.
Daughter of Pappu Ahirwar, a resident of Garib Nagar, was to get married with a youth from Badwai at Gandhi Nagar and the baraat had reached bride’s doorstep.
People from groom’s side were dancing and bride’s family, including locals, were standing to welcome them.
The scene turned ugly when those swaying to Bollywood numbers were allegedly pushed by Rahul Prajapati, 18, a resident of Garib Nagar, stoking anger and attack on the teenager by those in marriage procession. To this, bride’s cousin Pramod intervened, but was also attacked, police said.
Accused Vinod whipped out a knife and plunged it into Rahul and Pramod, triggering scare in the area, police said. After the attack, the six accused, including Vinod escaped from the spot. Police officials said multiple teams are on the job to track down six.
Later, attack victims were rushed to hospital. Of the two, Rahul succumbed on the way and Pramod is battling for life.
