Teen killed as SUV overturns after crashing into divider
Bhopal: An 18-year-old youth died while six others including his elder brother and friends sustained grievous injuries after the SUV they were travelling rammed into a road divider and overturned beside VIP Road near Khanugaon in Koh-e-Fiza locality in the wee hours of Friday morning. Investigating officer ASI Sunil Mishra said that the deceased Rohit Kumar Vaishav, 18, a resident of Agarwal Complex near Talaiya police outpost, was a student of class 10. He left home along with his elder brother Naresh, 20, around 4.30 am by his father's SUV and picked up his friends including Shadab, Arib, Arbaz, Sami and Faiz to go on a joy ride on VIP Road. The ASI said that Naresh was driving the SUV. They left home without informing anybody to have tea with friends and drop two of them to their homes. When they reached near Khanugaon Naresh lost control over the vehicle at high speed while negotiating a turn and it overturned after hitting a divider. They were rescued by locals and rushed to a nearby hospital, where Rohit died while his brother and friends were undergoing treatment. Rohit was sitting on the front seat beside the driver. A case was registered at Koh-e-Fiza police station and further investigations are underway. Meanwhile, in another incident reported at Berasia police station, a 31-year-old bike-borne bank employee died after he accidentally rammed a tractor trolley parked on the road on Thursday night. Police said that the deceased Narendra Patil, 31, hailed from Jalgaon in Maharashtra. He worked as an agriculture field officer at a nationalised bank. In the evening on Thursday, when Narendra was returning home after finishing routine work, he rammed into a tractor trolley parked on the road near Imaliya village in Berasia. Narendra was wearing a helmet but the collision was such that he sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead and alerted the cops.Investigation officer ASI Ramniwas Ojha said that the locals told police that Narendra couldn't spot the trolley as a vehicle coming from the opposite direction flashed high beams. Police have registered a case and further investigations were on.
