‘Tantrik’ held for abetting 20-year-old man’s suicide

Bhopal: A "tantric" (occult practitioner) was arrested on the charges of abetment to suicide of a 20-year-old man in Kamla Nagar. No suicide note was found, but police said chats on the victim's phone revealed that the tantric was harassing him.
Police said the deceased, Samar Pratap Singh, a resident of Vaishali Nagar, worked as an event manager. He took his own life on Oct 10 by hanging himself at home. During the investigation, police reviewed his mobile messages, which indicated he was troubled by tantric Ashutosh Shukla.
Police said the accused, who lives in Ashoka Garden with his mother, practices occult rituals. Samar met Shukla during the Chaitra Navratri festival while facing financial and personal issues, which he shared with the tantric.
Ashutosh promised to resolve Samar's problems through various rituals and suggested several remedies. However, Samar's issues persisted, and just before his suicide, he messaged Shukla, expressing feelings of abandonment and saying he saw no other option but to end his life.
Based on this evidence, police registered a case against Shukla and arrested him. The accused was presented before a court that remanded him to jail.
