Student dies by suicide due to financial stress
Bhopal: A decomposed body of a 23-year-old engineering student was recovered from his rented flat in Kolar locality on Friday. Police suspect it a case of suicide caused primarily due to financial stress.
According to police, the deceased might have hanged himself four days back. However, the incident came to light on Saturday. Investigation officer SI Ravindra Chokle said that the deceased, Shubham Sharma, 23, hailed from Chhapra in Bihar.

He was residing at a rented flat at Kaveri Colony on JK Road in Kolar along with his 4-5 friends.
He studied at a private engineering college while his father Rajesh Sharma works at a court in Bihar. All his friends had gone to Bihar to celebrate Holi festival and have yet not returned. Shubham was residing alone at the flat. He had not gone to have food at the eatery since April 3. When the eatery owner tried calling him, he was not picking up his phone and later his phone went out of coverage.
SI Chokle said that the eatery owner on Friday along with a social worker approached Shubham's flat to check. They found that the flat was locked from inside and a foul smell was coming out. Suspecting an untoward incident, they called the police and the landlord. They broke open the door in presence of police and the body was recovered. The body was badly decomposed and an earbud was plugged into his ear.
SI Chokle said that the eatery owner told police that Shubham was going through a financial crisis and often remained depressed about his father's ill health. He had borrowed Rs 4000 from him a few days back to pay off his rent.
SI Chokle said that Shubham's maternal grandfather resides in Misrod area and his father's elder brother reside in Chhola area. They were informed about the incident. No suicide note was recovered and further investigations were on in the case.
