Bhopal: A special court here sentenced two persons accused of carrying out acid attack on a girl to life imprisonment and also slapped a penalty of Rs 3 lakh each on them.
Spokesperson for the prosecution wing of police at Bhopal, Manoj Tripathi, said that when the acid attack survivor was going to catch a bus to go to her college, two unidentified persons on a bike threw acid on her in E-4 Arera Colony.
The person driving the bike had his face covered with a handkerchief while the one sitting pillion was wearing a burqa.The girl sustained burns on her face, hand and stomach. She was admitted at Narmada hospital.
Following investigation Habibganj police seized the bike used in the incident and also arrested Trilokchand Namdev and
Shubham Tiwari for carrying out the acid attack on the girl. They were charged under section 326 (a), 307 and 34 of the IPC and charge-sheet presented in the competent court.
Following trial, the court of special judge
Kamal Joshi on Tuesday held the accused guilty and sentenced them to imprisonment for life besides slapping a fine of Rs 3 lakh each on the accused.
