Samra wins third women’s 50m rifle 3P in Olympic trial

Bhopal: Sift Kaur Samra won her third women’s 50M Rifle 3 Positions (3P) Olympic Selection Trial (OST). Niraj Kumar also won the men’s 3P OST for a second time. The proceedings in the event concluded on the penultimate day of the OSTs 3&4 Rifle/Pistol at the MP State Shooting Academy range in Bhopal on Saturday. In the women’s 3P OST T4 final, the shooter scored 461.3 points to narrowly defeat Nischal by a single point. Ashi Chouksey secured third position with a score of 448.1. In the field of five women, Shriyanka Sadangi finished fourth while Anjum Moudgil finished fifth.In the men’s 3P, Niraj Kumar finished first with a score of 462.9, which was 1.7 points higher than Chain Singh who finished second. Aishwary Tomar secured the third position with a score of 449.8. Swapnil Kusale and Akhil Sheoran finished fourth and fifth places, respectively.Anjum Moudgil also confirmed that she secured the second position among the five qualified shooters in the trials. In the men’s 3P event, Aishwary Tomar and Swapnil Kusale finished in the first and second positions respectively after the completion of four trial matches.The day also witnessed the qualification rounds of the men’s and women’s 10M air rifle and air pistol OST T4.Sri Karthik Sabari Raj achieved the top position in the men’s air rifle category with a score of 631.6. Ramita Jindal, on the other hand, had a remarkable performance by scoring 636.4, which was 0.1 higher than the previous world record set by China’s Han Jiayu at the Baku World Cup earlier this month.Ramita's effort has placed her in the second position in the overall calculations. Elavenil Valarivan's score of 633.0 has secured her the top spot in the standings. At the beginning of the day, Ramita held the fourth position. Mehuli Ghosh secured the second position with a score of 633.1, while Nancy and Tilottama Sen held the fourth and fifth positions with scores of 630.6 and 628.8 respectively.In the men’s air rifle, the results did not affect the standings. Sandeep Singh was in fourth place with a score of 628.3, while Arjun Babuta held the fifth position with a score of 624.7. They continued to hold the top two positions in the calculations.Manu Bhaker secured top position in women’s 10M Air Pistol OST standings by finishing first in the T4 qualification round with a score of 581. In the men’s air pistol event, Sarabjot Singh scored 584 points to secure the top position in the OST T4 qualifications.
