Police officials on Monday suspended a constable posted in Sehore on charges of negligence and inaction that led to self immolation by a minor girl on January 2.

BHOPAL: Police officials on Monday suspended a constable posted in Sehore on charges of negligence and inaction that led to self immolation by a minor girl on January 2. An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police was taken off from field duty.
Additional superintendent of police, Sehore Amit Saxena told TOI, "DIG Asha Mathur had suspended head constable Mohan Gupta and attached assistant sub-inspector Sandip Maheswari of Kotwali police station for negligence of duty".

The girl who had filed a police complaint on January 1, ended her life, after being threatening by the accused youths again the next day.
Villagers have claimed that the incident could have been averted, had the police acted and arrested the accused named by her in the report.
The deceased was a student of class X residing at the hostel of tribal welfare department.
During investigation police have found that the accused was a regular visitor to the hostel where the girl lived.
