MP schoolkids use mid-day meal plates to throw garbage

: An inquiry has been ordered after children of a primary school in tribaldominated

Sheopur district

were allegedly made to use their mid-day meal plates to throw garbage and even cow dung from school premises.

The incident took place in Madha village of Vijaypur block in the district.

Speaking to TOI, district education officer (DEO) Ajay Katiyar said, “I have ordered an inquiry into the incident. The block development officer will conduct the inquiry and a report is expected soon.

Students and parents of the school had lodged a complaint with district collector Saurabh Kumar claiming that the thalis used by the students of the middle school were also being used for throwing the garbage.

“The little kids collect cow dung in the thalis and throw them outside the premises almost every day,” a parent said.

Parents said that during monsoon, cattle assemble in the school premises and defecate there.

Shiv Singh Kushwah, father of a student, said that since there are no gates, the cattle sometimes even enter the classrooms.

In November last year, students of a government primary school in

Damoh district

, were made to

clean

toilet by the school staff using the mid-day meal thalis. The students had alleged the teachers had asked them to carry human waste in their plates.

The incident took place in Doli village of Hata block of Damoh district.

While teachers had refuted the allegations made, district administration had launched an investigation into the incident.
