Sanjeevani clinics booster for healthcare in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: Bringing primary healthcare facilities closer to home, a few Sanjeevani clinics were inaugurated in Bhopal, Gwalior and Indore on Saturday. The clinics are on the lines of Delhi’s Mohalla Clinic and Basti Dawakhana of Telangana.
In Bhopal, the clinic located in Priyadarshini Nagar, Char Imli area, was inaugurated by MP minister for public relations, PC Sharma.“The idea is to transform healthcare through innovation and technology,” he said.

Overall, by the end of the fiscal year, the aim is to open 88 such clinics across the state.
The clinic will be manned by a doctor, laboratory technician, staff nurse or ANM along with a pharmacy that will dispense medicines, free of cost. Open from 10 am to 6 pm, the clinics will provide general OPD service, antenatal care and screen for ailments like cancer and others, said Sharma.
Pallavi Jain Govil, principal secratary, department of public health and family welfare, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Technology innovation will help drive and monitor the facilities that aims to bring healthcare nearer to people’s homes.
A mobile tablet with customised software will be used by the staff.
From registration and follow-up of patients, all the work would be digital. The process will be made paperless. Database of patients will be accessible to the health department, which will enable them to monitor and check the disease pattern in specific areas, said a consultant with Sanjeevani Clinic.
By March, Bhopal will have 23 Sanjeevani clinics, said chief medical and health officer (CMHO), Dr Sudhir Dheriya. “We have requested the government to provide buildings which were used by the Bhopal gas relief and rehabilitation department. Furthermore, BMC and others have been requested to provide space for Sanjeevani clinics,” he said.
There will also be a provision for screening, testing and registration of patients with NCD, including hypertension, diabetes and oncology. Sixty-eight types of diagnostics with 120 medicines will be provided at the clinic.
