BHOPAL: Safety experts called upon the government to constitute high-power committees to deliberate upon the technical feasibility of implementing early warning systems on natural disasters. The experts who were in the state capital in connection with the three-day national workshop on occupational health and safety management system that concluded here on Friday.The three-day workshop was organized by National safety council Mumbai along with MP chapter discussed the recent flood disaster in Uttarakhand at its concluding session. Emphasis was made on minimizing casualties and to review the existing safety systems and improve upon them.
The seminar covered subjects like enhancing occupational safety and health and lectures were given by S N Daga, development of OHSMS and its relevance to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and work environment monitoring by M A Metkari, occupational hazard and behavioral safety by Dr Yogesh Dubey, hazard identification risk assessment in industries by R D Bhardwaj, OHS and safety management and emergency preparedness and response by Dr S A Pillai , occupational health hazards by, Dr Sarla Menon, legal and other requirements on OH&SMS under various acts and rules by K K Nair and electrical safety by A R Khan.
At the valedictory session the participants also filled up feedback forms.
Earlier the guests were welcomed by S A Pillai secretary, NSC-MP chapter. The programme was inaugurated by S R Prasad , executive director, BHEL Bhopal and chairman NSC MP Chapter.
