BHOPAL: The civic body is gearing up for a three-week nationwide campaign that aims to introduce ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’ (RRR) centre as one-stop destination for collection and eventual recycling of waste.

RRR, the one-stop centre is for citizens to contribute clothes, shoes, old books, toys and used plastic to be reused or recycled, said Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner, K V S Choudary. Bhopal’s material resource facility has been one of its feature Swachh success. It has been documented by CPCB way back in 2020.

BMC commissioner Choudary also inspected the RRR centre in Awadhpuri on Wednesday. A rate list has been brought up for authorised vendors by the civic body. In turn, the vendors will have to adhere to the waste management, collection and scientific methods of the process.

Under the campaign, civic bodies across the country have been entrusted to set up waste management centres. Objective of establishing this centre is engage citizens actively in refurbishing old items for reuse. It has also been given impetus to the overall zero-waste ecosystem under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0, he added. RRR centres are scheduled to be launched nation-wide on May 20.

During the inspection, BMC additional commissioner M P Singh, health officer Rakesh Sharma and other officers of the civic body were also present.
