Jabalpur: Lokayukta police on Tuesday caught a revenue inspector posted in Shahpura tehsil of Jabalpur district allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 for carrying out demarcation of a land parcel, officials said.The accused was identified as Karan Singh Lodhi, 56, a revenue inspector posted at the Shahpura tehsil office. According to Lokayukta police, a complaint was lodged by Rohit Jain, a resident of Sangam Colony in Jabalpur, alleging that the official demanded Rs 1 lakh for demarcation of land purchased by one of his businessman friends in Kulon village of Shahpura tehsil.During verification of the complaint, the accused allegedly agreed to accept Rs 80,000. Acting on the complaint, a Lokayukta team laid a trap and caught Lodhi red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount at Ratan Colony in the Katanga area of Jabalpur on Tuesday.Officials said the trap operation was carried out under the guidance of Lokayukta DIG Manoj Singh and on the directions of Lokayukta Director General Yogesh Deshmukh to take strict action against corruption.A case was registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), and further investigation is underway.The trap team was led by inspectors Jitendra Yadav and Rahul Gajbhiye along with other members of the Jabalpur Lokayukta unit.
