BHOPAL: Cops have found out the four-day-old newborn bought by a man, who wanted a male child in Rajgarh district, was born to a woman out of an incestuous relationship. Girl, who delivered the boy gave it to a nurse who later sold the baby for Rs 32,000.
Police traced the mother of the infant child and took her to Rajgarh from Katni. Her statement was also recorded in court on Tuesday.
Superintendent of police Rajgarh, Sushant Saxena said, "Girl admitted to have given birth to the child and handing it over to a nurse named Preti Prajapat."
"She could not keep the child as she was single and the child was born out of an incestuous relationship," Saxena said.
During investigations we found the nurse sold the baby to Kalu alias Rajesh Jamadar of Rajgarh's Jeerapur through Kalu's relative Rajesh, who is resident of Katni, he added.
On September 4, Kalu was arrested by police and a four-day-old infant was recovered from his possession. On interrogation Kalu told police he had three daughters and since he wanted a son he through of buying a male child. He said he bought the child for Rs 32,000 from Katni with the help of his relative Rajesh. A police team was subsequently sent to Katni for investigaions.
"Case will now be transferred to Katni as major incidents have taken place there," Saxena said. Meanwhile the child is under monitoring of child welfare committee and will be handed over to the mother, he said.
