BHOPAL: From April 15, all private hospitals in Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, will not provide treatment to poor patients under Ayushman card scheme. This announcement was made by the United Private Hospitals Director Association at a press conference.

Many hospitals are on the verge of closure due to non-payment of Ayushman amount for eight months, the association claimed. Addressing the press conference, Dr Zeeshan Ahmed of the association said the state government has not paid private hospital for treatment of patients under Ayushman Bharat health insurance for the last eight months.

Considering financial burden, many hospitals are not on verge of closure. Talks held with Aditi Garg, CEO of Ayushman Bharat Yojana in MP has not resulted in release of payment, he said.

The association has demanded payment due till March 2023 to be cleared by April 15, for private hospitals to continue offering treatment to beneficiaries.

They also demanded that qualified and skilled people should be in place for audit and rectification of issues on time. In future, all types of treatment to be under the scheme should be paid within 30 to 45 days, the association said.
