Police arrest man with illegal pistol in Gautam Nagar

Bhopal: Gautam Nagar police claimed to have arrested a man near Resham Kendra on Friday after he was found in possession of an illegal country-made pistol. Acting on a tip-off, the police detained the suspect and booked him under relevant sections of the Arms Act.According to Gautam Nagar SHO Mahendra Singh Thakur, information was received from an informant that a man was standing near an electric pole at Resham Kendra and was carrying a desi katta. Acting swiftly, police conducted a cordon operation and apprehended the suspect at the spot.Upon searching him, the cops recovered a country-made pistol from his possession. When asked to produce a licence for the firearm, the man failed to provide any documentation.During questioning, the accused identified himself as Danish Sheikh, 23, a resident of Kabeetpura, Teela Jamalpura. Police also confirmed that Danish Sheikh has prior criminal records in Hanumanganj, Teela Jamalpura, and Koh-e-Fiza. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended use of the weapon.
