Bhopal: A miscreant alleged to be a pickpocket was caught red-handed after snatching a mobile phone from a man at a petrol pump near Berasia bus stand in the Teela Jamalpura area on Saturday afternoon. Police, with the help of locals, nabbed the accused and recovered the stolen phone worth Rs 25,000.
According to Teela Jamalpura SHO DP Singh, the complainant Deepak Sahu, 23, a resident of the Kainchi Chhola area, went with his uncle's auto-rickshaw to refuel CNG around 2 pm. While they were waiting, a youth suddenly snatched Deepak's mobile and ran towards the bus stand. Deepak and his uncle chased him while shouting for help. The accused tried to hide inside the bus stand, but by then, police had arrived. With the assistance of people present at the spot, the accused was overpowered.
During interrogation, he identified himself as Hamza Khan, 19, a resident of Teela Jamalpura. Police seized the mobile from his possession and took him into custody for further questioning.
