BHOPAL
: Fearing third wave of
Covid
,
parents
seem to have avoided admitting their
kids
in playschools. Parents said that they can teach their wards pre-nursery course at home to avoid any problem due to Covid.
Even after a year nothing has changed for playschools in Bhopal. Their hope to survive is also in trouble after several parents have avoided taking admissions this year. Parents said the ongoing situation has forced them to teach their pre-nursery kids at home. "I have realised that the proper study of kids starts from class 1 only. I can teach my kid the basics at home, so why should I send my child to a play
school
," said
Akash Yadav, father of a 5-year-old kid.
Parents also added that sending kids to school at such a tender age is very risky. "Students from class one could be taught how to follow Covid protocols. I don't think kids below 6 years could understand it properly," said a mother of a 4-year-old kid.
Playschools, however, said that students learn basics only through their classes. "I am surprised how come parents have now got time to teach their kids at home. We have opened schools for the benefit of kids. Several schools successfully conducted online classes last year. Let the students get admitted in playschools and help them join fun based online classes," said a playschool owner without quoting her name.
The pandemic has dealt a blow to playschools in Bhopal. More than 50% have shut down over the past year and those that are running are finding it hard to get new admissions in playgroups and nursery schools.
With the shutdown of campuses due to the pandemic and many parents working from home, preschools across the state capital are staring at an uncertain future.
Parents say they would prefer to teach kids at home than sending them to playschool
