Now, traffic rule violators to get challans on SMS

Bhopal: Traffic rule violators need to be mend their ways. Now, a ‘virtual’ court will take notice of the violations and instantly decide the penalty and send them an SMS with a link for online payment of fines.
Divisional public relation officer for the prosecution wing, Manoj Tripathi said that a virtual court — set up according to a directive of e-committee of the Supreme Court — has challaned over 7,000 persons for violation of traffic rules including riding without helmet, triple riding on a two-wheeler and wrong parking during the last one week. SMSes have been dispatched on the registered mobile numbers of such violators. The fine imposed by the presiding officer JMFC Nitendra Singh Tomar can be paid through the link shared in the SMS within 30 days.
If it’s not done, a case will be put up in the court and the penalty will have to be deposited by physically appearing in the court. This initiative will save time and money of the people concerned and they will not be required to make rounds of the court unnecessarily and they will be able to pay the amount of penalty online with ease, he said.
