Bhopal: While Madhya Pradesh team skipper Aditya Shrivastava was lifting the maiden Ranji trophy in Bengaluru on Sunday, his coach J P Tyagi in Bhopal was busy developing more players like him. Interestingly, three players of Tyagi — Aditya Shrivastava, Puneet Date and Rahul Batham were part of the Ranji team this year.
Tyagi has been coaching the players for the past several years. “I am only doing my job. I wish to develop world-class players. It is good to see that such level players are coming regularly,” said Tyagi who could be seen coaching players morning and evening at Ankur Academy.
Talking about his players, Tyagi said that Bhopal has no dearth of talent as they only need proper guidance and coaching. “I always say it is the responsibility of the coach to get the best out of any player. Aditya, Puneet and Rahul have proved that proper guidance could make it possible for any player to reach the top level of the game,” said Tyagi.
Tyagi himself had represented the junior India cricket team in 1992-93. He has the credit of producing 8 Ranji players so far who were trained under him.
