No accident but result of govt negligence: Cong chief

Bhopal: State Congress president Jitu Patwari reached Chhindwara on Saturday and met the families of those who lost their lives in Thursday's road accident, which claimed the lives of 10 persons. Patwari also visited the hospital and met with those injured and wished them a speedy recovery.Speaking to reporters, Patwari said, "It is not just a road accident, but the result of the govt's negligence, mismanagement, and abdication of responsibility," Patwari claimed, alleging that all the deceased and injured met with the accident while returning from a function addressed by chief minister Mohan Yadav.In Bhopal, LOP Umang Singhar announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to the families of each deceased.He said, "A mother lost her son, a child lost his father—the loss is irreparable. Complaints have surfaced that women were pressured into attending the event— it was said that if they did not attend, their funds under the Laadli Behana Yojana would be stopped. Will the govt investigate which officials exerted this pressure?" the LOP asked. tnn
