BHOPAL: A newlywed 25-year-old woman died allegedly late Wednesday night after reportedly consuming rodent poison by mistake in Chhawani Pathar village in the Bilkhiria area.The deceased was undergoing treatment at a private hospital following the incident. Acting on information, Bilkhiria police registered a case and started investigations.Bilkhiria SHO Umesh Chouhan said that the deceased, Nidhi Mehra, was originally a resident of Sanchi in Raisen district. She was married to Rajkumar Mehra, a resident of Chhawani Pathar village, for the past two years. The couple has an 11-month-old child.SHO Chouhan said that the incident occurred on May 13, while Rajkumar was at work and Nidhi was at home with other family members. Nidhi suddenly began vomiting, prompting concern from her relatives. Upon inquiry, she revealed that she mistakenly consumed rat poison kept near a sacred ash (bhabhuti) she brought from a temple. Both the ash and the poison were reportedly stored in the same location, leading to the fatal confusion.
She was rushed to a private hospital for treatment, but despite medical efforts, she died on Wednesday night. No allegations have been made by her family so far. Police have sent the body for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.
