BHOPAL: A district court on Thursday denied bail to NCP activist Manoj Tripathi, who set himself on fire and ran towards the cavalcade of outgoing Madhya Pradesh Governor Ramnaresh Yadav on Wednesday. Tripathi resorted to self-immolation when Yadav's cavalcade was leaving Raj Bhavan on Wednesday, the last day of his five-year term in the office. Tripathi's advocate Siddhartha could not appear in the court for arguing on his bail plea.

Siddhartha was arrested under Section 151 (knowingly joining or continuing in assembly of five or more persons after it has been commanded to disperse) of the IPC a few hours before his appearance in the court, sources said.
When Tripathi was produced in the court, he told a section of media that he was inspired from national heroes, including Subhash Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh and that he cannot ignore corruption.
