MP Congress leader likens Aurangzeb to Parashuram, gets show-cause notice

BHOPAL: A woman Congress functionary from Jabalpur has been issued a show-cause notice by the party after her controversial social media post comparing Mughal emperor Aurangazeb to Parashuram.

Rekha Jain is former Jabalpur district Mahila Congress chief and publicly apologized on Monday after the social media post stirred a hornet's nest.

The show-cause notice issued by Jabalpur city Congress president Saurabh Sharma on Sunday said, "It has violated the secular policy of the party and the deed comes under the purview of indiscipline."

The party has given Rekha Jain 48 hours to reply to the notice. The controversial post was made on Thursday. By Friday, it went viral.

Speaking to reporters, Jain said, " I realized that I had made a mistake and immediately deleted the post... I did not intend to hurt any feelings."
