BILASPUR: Families of two minors, who were allegedly killed by the police branding them as Maoists at a village in Dantewada district in strife-torn tribal Bastar region, have approached the

Chhattisgarh high court

seeking justice.

Narku

and Paikru, fathers of two tribal boys

Vimlu

(13) and Sonalu (16), came to the high court along with their counsel

Satish Chandra Verma

to inform the court that their minor children were branded as Maoists and killed by the police. According to their parents, both of them had gone to their sister’s place at village Garda to inform her about a death in the family. The two had walked to Garda village but had to stay back at a place on way as it had become dark.

A police team spotted them near the village at night and wanted to know their credentials. Despite showing their Aadhar and school identity cards, police didn't believe and killed them, the complainants, who hail from village Maldu, told the chief justice Deepak Gupta. The chief Justice asked their counsel to file a petition at the earliest so that its hearing could commence soon.

Their counsel Satish Verma also informed the court that both, Narku and Paikru, feared for their lives and that they have somehow managed to escape from their village to reach the high court.

After hearing Verma's plea, justice Gupta instructed him to ensure the safety of the two.
