Minor raped by teen social media friend

Bhopal: A friendship struck on social media allegedly turned into a sexual assault case within a week, with Civil Lines police registering an FIR under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.Police said the survivor, a 16-year-old girl, and the accused, a 17-year-old boy, both local residents, first came into contact on social media and started meeting in person as their online conversations increased.The alleged incident took place on Feb 27 at the room of the survivor's friend within Civil Lines police station limits. The survivor alleged the accused made her consume an intoxicant and sexually assaulted her. She also sustained minor injuries. "The minor accused was rounded up and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which sent him to a reform house on Sunday. A case was registered, and a detailed probe is going on," a police officer told TOI. tnn
