BHOPAL: After a scuffle between police and hostellers recently, first-year students at

Barkatullah University

now engaged in a clash right inside their classroom on Monday. A student was

thrashed and sustained head injuries

. He was rushed to a hospital where he received multiple stitches and is undergoing treatment.

Taking a strict action over the incident, BU officials formed a committee to look into the incident.

The injured student alleged that two other students of his class attacked him inside the classroom. “The two were troubling me for the past couple of days. On Monday afternoon, both of them attacked me in the classroom injuring me on my head,” said the injured student. Both victim and accused are the first students of MBA.

When contacted,

HoD Vivek Sharma

said, “I have received a complaint that a student was attacked during the class. He was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Action will be taken against the guilty.”

Recently, a group of over 100 students gathered outside the residence of the VC on the BU campus to protest against the lack of drinking water in hostels for over a month.

Bag Sewaniya police

reached the spot to disperse the students. The students alleged that they were protesting peacefully and the cops came suddenly and attacked them.

Barkatullah University made it clear that police can’t enter the premises without the permission of the registrar or dean of student welfare. NSUI has also demanded action against the police personnel.

Issuing a notice, BU registrar, Ajit Shrivastava, regretted the incident and stated that police are allowed to enter the campus only after permission from proper authorities. He said the registrar and dean will have the right to give permission. The vice-chancellor, Prof R J Rao wrote a letter to police authorities to take adequate action against the responsible police personnel. Security in-charge was replaced and Kapil Soni, warden of the hostel, was removed. BU had also made arrangements to ensure adequate water supply to the hostel.
