Man’s body found by morning walkers near sports club, murder suspected

Bhopal: Panic gripped the Govindpura area after the body of an unidentified man was found lying in bushes near the BHEL Sports Club on Saturday morning.According to police, some morning walkers spotted the body lying about 80 metres inside a plantation area from the road behind the BHEL Sports Club, towards the Saket Nagar side. They immediately informed the police.
A team from the Govindpura police station, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) unit, reached the spot and conducted a preliminary inspection before sending the body to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.Govindpura SHO Awadhesh Singh Tomar said the deceased appeared to be around 30-35 years old. He was wearing a blue-and-white chequered shirt, a navy blue jacket, blue trousers, and black-and-blue shoes. No identification documents were recovered from the body that could help in his identification.He said the deceased man's throat was slit and his head was smashed with a stone, indicating that he was murdered. Prima facie, the case appeared to be one of homicide. Police shared the details and photographs of the deceased on social media platforms and with neighbouring police stations to ascertain his identity. The details are being matched with missing person complaints reported to police. A case of murder against unknown persons will be registered after receipt of the post-mortem report, police said on the case.
