Man rapes girl, forces her to marry at temple

Bhopal: A 24-year-old man allegedly raped a girl when she was a minor, and recently forced her to marry him at a temple. He had been sexually assaulting her for four years. The 19-year-old girl has now filed a complaint. Police said the girl and the man lived in the same locality. In Aug 2022, when she was 15, the man allegedly took her to a hotel under a false pretext. Once there, he allegedly raped her and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone. Terrified by the death threats, the girl remained silent. In March, the man allegedly forcefully took her to a temple, where he performed a marriage ceremony. He then began pressuring the student to leave her family and live with him as his wife.Unable to endure the harassment, the girl approached police station and narrated her ordeal. Police registered a formal FIR on Tuesday charging the man with rape and criminal intimidation.
