Man on the run for burning wife to death, dies by suicide
Bhopal: A 60-year-old man accused of burning his wife to death allegedly died by suicide inside a toilet at a hospital in Raisen on Tuesday morning. The murder accused, who was admitted with a fractured leg after an earlier suicide attempt, was yet to be arrested and was not in police custody at the time of the incident.The deceased was identified as Jamuna Prasad Gaur who was booked for the murder of his wife, Marphool, 55. Police said he allegedly doused her with petrol and set her ablaze following a domestic dispute on Feb 20. She later succumbed to burn injuries during treatment at a hospital in Bhopal on Feb 25. Since the incident, Gaur was on the run.

Sources from the hospital said he earlier attempted suicide by jumping before a train in Vidisha district and sustained injuries to his legs. He was brought to Raisen district hospital by ambulance services around two days ago and was admitted for treatment.On Tuesday around 8.30 am, he went to the bathroom as usual. When he did not return, hospital staff checked and found him dead. The local police outpost was informed, and a case of unnatural death was registered before Kotwali police were alerted."The deceased had some anger issues, and over a petty dispute, he doused his wife with petrol and set her ablaze. She later succumbed to burn injuries during treatment," Kotwali police station in-charge Narendra Goyal TOI.
