BHOPAL: A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a minor in Kolar locality on Monday. The accused who runs a salon is alleged to have grabbed the 5-year-old while she was playing near her home.
The survivor's mother spotted the accused sexually abusing her daughter and raised an alarm. Later, the accused was nabbed by the locals and handed over to the police.
Police said that the survivor resides with her family members at a rented flat in Kolar locality. Survivor's mother, who is the complainant in the case alleged that on Monday around 7.15 pm, when her daughter was playing on the stairs at her home, the accused, Ashok Sarathe, a resident of Kanha Kunj in Kolar pounced on the girl on finding her alone. The accused disrobed her and started sexually abusing her on the pretext of playing with her.
Police said that when the survivor's mother reached the spot while looking for her, she was shocked to find that her daughter was sitting with a man. As she called her daughter's name, the accused fled the spot.
Police said that when the survivor's mother spotted that her daughter's clothes were out of place, she counselled the minor girl. Soon, the girl narrated the incident after which, her mother alerted the locals and family members, who nabbed the accused.
Subsequently, the survivor and her mother approached Kolar police station to file a complaint against the accused. A rape case under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act was registered, and the accused was arrested.
