Man gets life term for rape of minor

Bhopal: A special Pocso court on Friday sentenced a person to life imprisonment on charges of raping a minor girl on several occasions. The accused was arrested under section 354 (a) of the IPC and relevant sections of Pocso Act for molesting the girl but in her statement in court, the 10-year-old girl revealed that the accused has raped her on several occasions making the court to enhance charges against the accused to section 376 (a) (b) of the IPC and section 5 M/6 of the Pocso Act.
Spokesperson for the district prosecution wing of the police, Manoj Tripathi, said that during her deposition in the court, in reply to questions asked to her, the girl revealed that the accused had raped her on several occasions in the past. Subsequently, he was charged under section 376 (a), 376 (b) of the IPC and section 5M/6 of the Pocso Act. tnn
