BHOPAL: A private school teacher has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing multiple school children in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh.
Matter surfaced after some parents found videos related to the incident and questioned their children.
According to the families of the victims, the teacher, Satyam Raghuvanshi (25), conducted private tuition classes after school hours and sexually abused the children during these sessions.
He reportedly threatened the children with dire consequences, including harm to their families, social isolation, and academic failure, if they disclosed the abuse, reports local media.
Several families, including three women, filed police complaints. While the police currently identify five children as victims, sources suggest the number could be significantly higher, exceeding 20.
The accused teacher, who had been teaching at the school for three years, has been arrested and is currently being questioned. He taught children from 5th to 8th grade.
The children had to wait for six hours due to the absence of the regular doctors at the medical facility for examination. Following a protest by the families, child specialist Dr Suresh Agarwal and Lateri BMO Dr Abhishek Upadhyay were called in to conduct the medical examinations.
Police claimed that they are investigating the case thoroughly and will be interviewing other children from the school and the accused teacher's coaching classes. A psychological evaluation of the accused teacher will also be conducted. Three FIRs have been registered in the case, and the accused teacher is currently in police custody at an undisclosed location to avoid any untoward incident.
