The incident occurred around 9.30 am when members of the Sahu family attacked the Pathak and Dubey families with swords and sticks, reportedly over a longstanding rivalry. Local residents blocked the Patan-Jabalpur Road in protest, prompting the deployment of additional police forces. Senior officers arrived at the scene to restore order.

According to ASP (Rural) Suryakant Sharma, three victims died on the spot, while a fourth succumbed to injuries in hospital. The deceased have been identified as Satish and Manish Pathak from the Pathak family, and Aniket and Sameer Dubey from the Dubey family. Two others, Vipin and Mukesh Dubey, sustained injuries and are receiving treatment.

Ganesh Pathak, father of the deceased Pathak brothers, said the families had been in conflict for two months over gambling disputes. The violence reportedly escalated after a young man, identified as Kalu, created a disturbance while intoxicated.

The police have registered a case of murder and detained several individuals for questioning.
