Madhya Pradesh assault case: 11-year-old beaten, left bleeding by private school teacher in Rewa

BHOPAL: Kin of an 11-year-old student have alleged that a private school teacher in Rewa assaulted the child, hitting him on the head with a steel water bottle and repeatedly slamming him against a wall for not completing his homework. The child allegedly returned home bleeding, while the school management neither arranged medical treatment nor informed the family, they said.

The incident reportedly took place on Saturday evening at a private school in Rewa. The child's sister, who also studies in the same school, allegedly tried to intervene upon seeing her brother being beaten, but she too was assaulted by the teacher, the family claimed.


According to the kin, the school management attempted to suppress the matter from Saturday evening onwards. Family members alleged that the child was traumatised since the incident. He reportedly developed a high fever, stopped eating and drinking, and showed signs of fear at the mention of school. They said he is undergoing treatment and is struggling emotionally after being assaulted in front of his classmates.

Rewa SDOP (Sirmour) Umesh Prajapati told TOI, "The father of the child came to us with a complaint two days ago, but soon after, he said that he doesn't want to file any complaint. We asked him to give it in writing, he gave it and returned. Now again on Monday, he came with the same complaint. I instructed the police station incharge to get the CCTV footage of the private school premises checked. Further course of action will be decided after that."

Police said they are awaiting the CCTV footage and will take appropriate action based on the findings.
