BHOPAL: Municipal sanitation workers in Old Tehri, Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, allegedly dumped garbage outside the house of a resident who had filed a complaint on the chief minister’s Helpline about drain cleaning.
The incident occurred at the residence of Harishankar Khare, who had refused to withdraw his complaint despite pressure from civic staff.
According to local resident Pushpendra Prajapati, a garbage truck was deliberately emptied at Khare’s doorstep, leaving the road covered in waste.
The act sparked anger in the locality, as residents pointed out that preparations were underway for the installation of a Durga idol the next day. They said the Municipal Corporation’s action risked disrupting the festive atmosphere.
Senior officials were informed, and police along with sanitation staff later cleared the garbage.
Municipal officers, however, dismissed allegations of retaliation. They said the garbage vehicle had broken down in the narrow lane and had to be unloaded. “Another vehicle was later sent to clear the waste. The complaint on the CM Helpline has already been resolved and has no link with this incident,” said officials.
Locals, however, remained unconvinced, calling the dumping an attempt to intimidate complainants and demanding accountability from the civic body.
