The officer identified as R C Tirole was caught red-handed, while accepting the bribe money, say officials.

The trap was laid following a complaint lodged by a contractor on July 27, alleging that Tirole was demanding a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to clear a pending file related to the extension of road construction work in Multai and Bhainsdehi. Payment of around Rs 15 crore was due.

A Lokayukta team led by DSP Anil Bajpai, including DSP Sanjay Shukla, Inspector Neelam Patwa, Inspector Uma Kushwaha, Head Constable Brij Bihari Pandey, Constable Rajendra Pawan, and Constable Manmohan Sahu, carried out the operation. The arrest was made while Tirole was accepting the bribe at his home. He has been charged under various sections of prevention of corruption act.
