BHOPAL: Ahead of the wedding season, traders in the tribal-dominated district of Sheopur are up in arms against chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouan’s decision of Corona Curfew.
The common refrain among traders here is that the CM had promised there would be no more lockdowns.
With a large number of weddings lined up till May 14, when Akshya Tritiya is celebrated, the traders should be allowed to open firms at least for a few hours so that people can shop, said the traders.

Earlier this week, trades also held a demonstration at the office of the district collector and threatened to go ahead with “opening the shops”.
Naresh Jindal, a Sheopur-based trader leading the business community, said: “Chief minister Chouhan had repeatedly said that there would be no lockdown. Now the administration in Sheopur has announced a Corona Curfew, which is nothing but a lockdown. All the business establishments are closed.”
The business community had invested crores of rupees.
Traders said that as the district was closed to Rajasthan, Akshya Tritiya was celebrated with great enthusiasm and large number of weddings were planned. People should be allowed shopping with all the Covid SOPs else “ we will incur huge losses.”
