BHOPAL: A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Gwalior while she was tending to livestock near her home. The incident took place when the accused reportedly entered the victim’s property, gagged her, and forcibly took her into a room, where he sexually assaulted her.

According to police, the victim was looking after cattle near her house on Tuesday when the accused entered the premises without permission. After attacking and raping her, he attempted to silence her by force.

Hearing the victim’s cries for help, her elderly grandmother, who was nearby, rushed to intervene. However, the accused allegedly pushed the grandmother to the ground, causing her to hit her head on a stone. She sustained a serious head injury as a result. Following the assault, the accused fled the scene.

The victim and her family immediately reported the incident to the Tighra Police Station, bringing along the injured grandmother. Police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the law, including charges of rape, assault, and intimidation.

Both the victim and her grandmother underwent medical examinations to assess their injuries and collect forensic evidence. Authorities have since launched a manhunt to track down the suspect.

A police team conducted a raid at the accused’s residence, but he had already fled. Officials are now searching potential hiding places and gathering intelligence to locate him.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with residents demanding swift justice for the victim and her family. Police have assured that they are making all efforts to arrest the accused and bring him to justice as soon as possible.
