Instituted in 1996, Ahilya samman aims to promote tribal and folk women artistes, who have done commendable work in their respective fields. For 2019, the award is being given to celebrated tribal artiste
Shantibai Maravi
, who has given a new lease of life to Mandala art. For 2020, Ahilya Samman is being given to folk singer Malini Awaasthi, whose songs in Bundelkhandi, Bhojpuri and Awadhi are very popular.
Tulsi award instituted in 1983 is given to those male folk and tribal artistes, whose work has been recognised for its superior quality. For 2017, Tulsi Samman is being given to Kailash Chandra, flute player Vkram Yadav has bagged it for 2018 while Kabir gayak Dr Bharti Bandhu would get the award for 2019. Tribal artist Tilakram is being given the award for 2020.All the awardees of Ahilya and Tulsi Samman would be honoured with a cash award of Rs 2 lakh each along with shawl and citation.
