NEW DELHI: Authorities in Bhopal on Saturday demolished the illegally built houses of two men accused in a case involving the rape and blackmail of college students, officials said.The houses of Shamsuddin alias Saad and Sahil Khan in Arjun Nagar were razed in the early morning hours under heavy police security. Barricades had been placed around the area on Friday evening before the operation began at 5 am.
Action against another accused, Farhan Ali, has been put on hold due to an ongoing court hearing, officials added.Govindpura Sub-Divisional Magistrate Raveesh Srivastava said the demolition was carried out as per rules, and illegal encroachments on government land were cleared in the presence of police.Police said the accused — Farhan Ali, Saad, Sahil Khan, Nabeel, Ali Khan and Abrar — are facing charges of raping students of a private college, blackmailing them with objectionable videos, and attempting forced religious conversion.The case was registered on 25 April after three female students accused the men of rape and blackmail.
