Madhya Pradesh: 9-foot-long crocodile crawls into police outpost
BHOPAL: This
It may be hard to believe but the crocodiles' love for the police outpost is interesting. For several years,
On Sunday night, a crocodile was spotted near the outpost. As soon as the alarm was raised, several residents of nearby area gathered at the spot and started recording video and clicking pictures of the reptile. Before forest flying squad could reach the spot, the FRV and Dial 100 police team arrived and sent the reptile back to the water body with the help of batons and sticks.
Devendra Thakur, a cop at the outpost, said: "Spotting a crocodile is not a new thing for us as every six months a crocodile crawls up near the outpost and is often found besides the gate. We get an alert regarding the reptile as a few dogs in the area start barking after seeing the crocodile. There is a temple just near the dam where crocodiles reach easily and from there they take a road to the outpost. Around six months ago, a crocodile had come near the outpost. When we were trying to send him back in water, he jumped and hurt his leg. Later we called a flying squad which rescued it and took it to Van Vihar for treatment."
Monu Ahirwar, a resident, said: "We have many photographs and videos of crocodiles as every month a crocodile is spotted somewhere around. However, the outpost seems to be crocodile's favourite spot."
