Bhopal: Voter turnout of 14.43% was reported till 9am as polling is going on across 9 constituencies—namely Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal, Rajgarh and Betul—during the third phase of voting in state on Tuesday.

Voting started at 7am across 20,456 polling booths that have been set up in these 9 constituencies across 23 districts of the state.


There are a total of 1.77 crore voters including 92.68 lakh males, 84.83 lakh females and 118 candidates who are in fray in these elections.

Among the constituencies while state capital Bhopal has maximum 21 candidates who are in the fray and Bhind has lowest 6 candidates.

Politically, too, this is the hottest phase with the high profile seats of Guna, Gwalior, Vidisha and Bhopal going to the polls. ‘Mama’ Shivraj Singh Chouhan, ‘Maharaja’ Jyotiraditya Scindia and ‘Raja’ Digvijaya Singh are in the fray.

For each, the election is crucial though for different reasons — Chouhan is aiming a comeback to Parliament and national politics from Vidisha after 18 years, Jyotiraditya is looking for redemption in Guna after being the first Scindia to lose the seat, and Digvijaya is returning to Rajgarh after 32 years.
