Loading vehicle crushes man to death, drags body to flee

Bhopal: A 27-year-old man allegedly lost his life after being run over by a loading vehicle while celebrating Holi with friends on the street in Ashoka Garden on Friday afternoon. He got stuck under the loading vehicle, and the errant driver dragged him for a few metres in a bid to run away. The severely injured victim was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries after a few hours of treatment. Ashoka Garden Police registered a case against the driver of the loading vehicle and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.Investigation officer ASI Jaiveer Singh said that the deceased, Shailendra Singh Rajput, 27, a resident of Subhash Colony, Ashoka Garden, worked in a factory in Govindpura industrial area. On Friday around 3:30 PM, he was celebrating Holi with his 10-12 friends near Ruchi Restaurant in the Ashoka Garden industrial area, dancing in front of the restaurant on the street. During the celebrations, a loading vehicle struck Shailendra. The vehicle driver tried to run away, thereby dragging him on the road for a few metres. His friends immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Habibganj, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 7:00 pm on Friday. Upon receiving the information from the hospital, the police arrived at the scene, registered a case, and sent the man's body for a post-mortem. Meanwhile, a case on charges of causing death by negligence was registered against the driver of the loading vehicle. It was said that a dispute took place between the loading vehicle driver and Shailendra's friends before the accident over applying colour. Police are verifying it.
